Memorial services for Rick Bell, 49, who passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday, December 21 at the First Assembly of God Church, 1700 West 2nd Ave., Indianola, IA.

Rick was born in Bellingham, WA, grew up in Lacey, WA and moved to Indianola with his family in 2002. He started his career carrying newspapers for The Olympian at the age of ten and worked his way up to Vice President, Circulation with Des Moines Register Media.

He received 10 prestigious Gannett President's Rings, twice named Gannett's Circulation Executive of the Year, served on the board of directors for Central States Circulation Managers Association (CSCMA), served as the Membership Chair, and in 2010 received their highest award. While working at the Des Moines Register, Rick was committed to supporting non-profits, serving on the YMCA's Metro Board and many others. He worked for Gannett News Corp for 31 years. He had a passion for his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and restoring his 1966 and 1938 Chevys with his son.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Michelle; children, Daniel, Rachel, Rebekah and Sarah; parents, Thomas and Sandra Bell; brothers, Randy (Pam) Bell, David (Shannon) Bell; sisters, Laurie (Scott) Rockwell, Julie (Richard) St. Cyr and Jenifer (Bryan) Elwanger; mother-in-law, Patricia LePage; and Harley his beloved dog. He was loved.
