Charles C. Hammond, 83, of 308 Hamilton St. died at 2 am December 22, 2012 at the Good Smaritan Society - Ottumwa.

He was born November 24, 1929 in Borken Bow, NE to Adam and Adeline Glenn Hammond. He married Angie Savadra. They later divorced. He married Vera Hunziker June 12, 1976. A resident of Ottumwa since 2007, Charles had served in the U.S.Army having served in the Korean Conflict.

Surviving is his wife, Vera; four sons, Randy(Marcie)Hammond, Jim(Deborah)Hammond, John(Tammy)Hammond and Chris(Lisa)Hammond; a daughter, Mary Jane(Mike)Hammond; 3 step-children; 27 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Joe, Jay and Bob; 5 sisters, Joanne, Kathy, Patricia, Pricilla and Ruby.

He was preceded in death by three sons, Steve, Calvin and Rodney along with several brothers and sisters.

His body has been cremated. Graveside memorial services will be held at Keokuk National Cemetery at a later date. Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
