P. Mansur Shibley, 58, well known Tooele railroader and Republican Party worker, died Saturday, February 18, 1961, at the Tooele Hospital of leukemia.
He was born February 6, 1903, in Gorin, Missouri, a son of John W. and Lydia Catherine Pierce Shibley. He moved to Tooele in 1918 with his family.
He graduated from Tooele High School in 1923 and married Nona Worthington April 18, 1924, in Salt Lake City.
He was employed by the Tooele Valley Railroad as a brakeman and conductor for thirty years. For the past two years, he was bookkeeper and auditor for a Tooele servie station.
He was active in the Tooele County Republican Party for many years and was a member of Lodge 941, Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
Surviving are Mrs. Shibley and a daughter, Mrs. Reed J. (Leatrice) Stewart both of Tooele: brothers and sisters, Jess A. Shibley, Salisbury, Missouri; Carl Shibley, Tooele; Arliegh P. Shibley, San Diego, California; Mrs. Ethel Ryman, Ottumwa, Iowa; Mrs. Ann E. Malloy, Fort Worth, Texas, and Mrs. Irene B. Parrish of Quincy, Illinois.
Funeral services were February 22 in the Third and Seventh Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Tooele City Cemetery.
