Gilbert Lee Baysinger, Emporia, Kansas, died at Stomont-Vail Medical Center, Topeka, Kansas, on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the age of 83.

Gilbert Lee Baysinger was born at Lamont, Kansas, on December 13, 1929, the son of Roy Arthur and Sarah Mae (Houghton) Baysinger. He married Joann Gosser on June 29, 1962 in Emporia.

Survivors include: his wife, of the home; sons, Clinton and Clayton Baysinger, both of Emporia, and Chris Baysinger, Madison, Kansas; daughters, Angel Paige, El Dorado, Kansas, Gae Harrison, Wichita, Lillie Hanson, Killeen, Texas, and Ginger Baysinger, Wichita; sisters, Grace Graybeal, Topeka, and Loretta Graybeal, Osage City, Kansas; seventeen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Christopher, Cody, and Brandi Baysinger, as well as two brothers, and four sisters.

Mr. Baysinger served in the United States Army for three years during the Korean Conflict, and was a radio scout in one of the units that came to be known as the "Frozen Chosen ". He was employed as a lineman for the Union Pacific Railway Company.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 22, 2012 in the chapel of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Joe Tuttle, Bethel Baptist Church. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Toledo, (Chase County) Kansas, with military graveside services by Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening, December 21, 2012 from 7:00 until 8:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with the Emporia All Veterans Memorial. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
