He was born on October 9, 1921 in Axton, VA to the late James P. Talbott and Sallie Mae Patterson Talbott.
He was a World War II veteran serving in the US Army 31st Division from 1942 to 1946 and later became a lifetime member of DAV Chapter 63.
He was formerly the owner and operator for many years of The Cobbler Shop on Washington Street.
He was a charter member and Deacon of Kings Highway Christian Church where he unselfishly volunteered his time and talents. James truly enjoyed every second he spent helping others whether it be at church, with his family, or friends. When unable to physically serve any longer, the church honored James as Deacon Emeritus.
His family has inherited a lifetime of precious memories and they know he will always be looking down on them with that sweet smile of his.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Angeline N. Talbott, James "Jimmy" B. Talbott, Jr. and wife, Martha, two granddaughters, Michelle Talbott-Corum and husband, Todd, and Emily T. Bates and husband, Daniel, great-grandson, Blake Corum and sister, Judith P. Graham of Davidson, MD
Funeral services were held on Saturday at Kings Highway Christian Church with Pastor Roy Moulden officiating.
Burial followed in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens.
Fair Funeral Home served the family.
