He was a U.S. Marine Veteran, serving 4 years, and a member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Marlene Simmons of 35 years; daughter, Tonya Gatejen and husband Erich of Dublin, CA; grandson, Scott Paul Gatejen of Dublin, CA; brothers, Jim Simmons and wife Edith of Canton, OH, Gary Simmons and wife Teressa of Zanesville, OH, Ricky Simmons of Okeecho- bee, FL; sisters, Betty Shifflet and husband Marion of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Debbie Murphy and husband Rick of Zanesville, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Treasure Coast, 805 Vir- ginia Ave., Ste. 1, Fort Pierce, FL. Services: Burial will take place at Crooksville Cemetery, Crooksville, OH.
