David "Eldy" E Williams, 88, 1225 Greencroft Drive, formerly of Orchard Drive, Goshen, died Tuesday at 5:48 am.

He was born Jan 23, 1919, in Goshen, to Percival Gerald and Cora Ethel (Crouse) Williams.

He married Suzanne R Rummel Nov 15, 1947, in Goshen. She survives.

He retired as vice-president of sales at Goshen Rubber after 32 years.

He was past president of Goshen Lions Club; past president and charter member of Maplecrest Country Club; Boy Scout area council; board of directors for Junior Achievement; Rubber Manufacturers Association; Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was president, council member, choir, Sunday school and youth leader; all-night prom coordinator; Max Williams Jazz Award administrator; and member of American Legion, Goshen.

Surviving along with his wife are two daughters, Karen K Defrees, Goshen, and Sharon K (James) Helman, Traverse City, Mich; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Margaret Davis, Thelma Mehl and Dorothy Weaver; and three brothers, George "Max," Preston "Jerry" and Richard "Darby" Williams.

Friends may call from 4-7 pm Thursday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and 10:30-11:30 am Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, both of Goshen.

The funeral will take place at 11:30 am Friday at the church, with his son-in-law, the Rev James Helman, assisted by lay minister Julie Stegelmann officiating.

Burial will take place in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.

Pallbearers will be Jennifer and Mike Craig, Emily and Curt Wilson, Chad Defrees, Scott and Amber Defrees, Lowell Thomas and Dave Williams.

Memorials may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church.
