Johnstown Daily Tribune, Friday, April 26, 1895:
Joseph Livingston, who was in his sixty-fourth year, died at his home, No. 1031 Franklin Street, Eighth Ward, at 10:30 o'clock last night, after being sick but two days. On Wednesday Mr. Livingston was out in his yard grafting apple trees when he became sick. He was assisted into the house, after which he began to spit blood, and several physicians were sent for. They responded immediately and pronounced his ailment congestion of the lungs. After one of the members of the family had given him medicine last night he told the person to leave the room and keep order, as he intended taking "a long sleep" and soon after he peacefully passed away. Mr. Livingston is survived by his wife, who was Lydia Ream, daughter of William and Barbara Ream, and seven children. He is also survived by one sister- Sallie- and two brothers- John and Moses, all of Roxbury Borough. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon, services to be held in the Roxbury German Baptist Church, of which the deceased was a devout member for many years. Interment will be made in Ream's Cemetery in Upper Yoder Township.
