Services for Martin Justin Perry, 20 of Tunica were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2001 at the Tunica Institute of Learning gymnasium, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Tunica. Rev. Danny Smith, Rev. Paul Husband, and Rev. David Worley officiated at the services.

Perry, a sophomore student at Delta State University, died April 13 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn. from injuries received in an automobile accident. He was a stand-out athlete in football, track, baseball, and basketball while a high school student at TIL and received the Shane Derrington "Heart of a Champion" Award his senior year. He also was awarded the Beta Club scholarship and earned Dean's List honors at Delta State. He was a member of Tunica First Baptist Church.

Justin, known as "Bubba" or "Tweeter" to his many friends, worked during the summer on his father's farm and was active in youth baseball and with TIL youth. He was majoring in exercise science at DSU. Justin is survived by his mother and stepfather, Gail and Van Haley of Tunica; his father and stepmother, Mike and Annette Perry of Coldwater, Miss.; two sisters, Betsy Elaine Perry of Tunica and Kimberly Brett Perry of Coldwater; two brothers, Michael Jason Perry of Southaven, Miss. and Blake Daniels Perry of Coldwater; and two grandmothers, Margie Tutor Sledge and Barbara Poor Perry, both of Tunica.

Pallbearers were Hunter Sharpe, Patrick Connelly, and Parker Graves, all of Tunica, and Jay Hale, Brian Roach, Jarred Flowers, Rob Taylor and Mack Carner, all Delta State students. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Gidden Jr., Alan Carson, Aden Hughey, Samuel Husband, Kirk Griggs, Ched Walton, John Allen Hill, Jeffrey Clark, Steve Little, Josh Fortenberry, Trey McLean, and Justin Whitley.

The family requests that memorials be made to Tunica Institute of Learning.
