Richfield Springs - Mrs. Fannie Omend Jaquays, 88, died December 14 at the home of her daughter Mrs. Clark Druse, 10 Ann Street, after a short illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday in Richfield Springs. The Rev. C.Frederic Frazier will officiate. Burial will be in Sprinfield Center Cemetery.

She was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on Jan. 15. 1866, daughter of Civil War Veteran Robert Osborne and Mary (Parker) Osborne.
She came to Ilion when she was a young girl, and spend most of her adult life in the Jordanville - Van Hornesville area.
She was married to Edward Leonard, Jordanville, who died 1928, and later married Sylvester Jaquays, Dolgeville, who died 1944.
Mrs. Jaquays was a former member of the Van Hornesville Rebekah Lodge.
Surviving are her daughter Mrs. Druse, a half-brother Virgil Ostrander, of Whitney Point, one sister, Mrs. Lester Cotton, Augersville, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nephews and one niece.

Note : The obituary for Fannie has given her maiden name as Osborne and her father as Robert Osborne. I have no idea where that incorrect information originated. Her maiden name was Omand, her father was Robert Omand born 06 August 1839 in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada. Fannie was the eldest of three children born to Robert and his wife Mary Fern Parker Omand. Her younger brothers were John and Andrew. The children Fannie had with Edward Leonard (Pearl & Cecil) gave their mother's maiden name as Parker on their own marriage records. Could you make a note about her real name along with the incorrect obituary so others don't continue thinking Osborne was her maiden name? I did not want to edit her name without explaining why to you. Barbara Dahl .
