Richmond Times-Dispatch - Friday, May 22, 1992:

A funeral for David Belmont Woodson, a retired Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Department real estate director, will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. Burial will follow in Westhampton Memorial Park.

Mr. Woodson, a Richmond resident, died Wednesday at age 88 in a local hospital after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Woodson was a native of Washington. His family later moved to Lowesville in Amherst County, where he attended public schools and Fork Union Military Academy.

He was a crane operator for American Locomotive Works in Bethlehem, Pa., before he enrolled at Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, where he became a teacher.

In 1932, he left the school because of the Depression and returned to his family's farm in Nelson County.

Two years later, he joined the ABC Department. Mr. Woodson was the department's director of real estate when he retired in 1973.

He was a past master of Amity Lodge No. 76, AF&AM and past district deputy grand master of the Masonic District 15A. He also held several offices with the Richmond Scottish Rite Bodies.

Mr. Woodson was the widower of Aileen H. Woodson. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Gail W. Griffey of Goochland County; a son, David B. Woodson of Mechanicsville; and a brother, George M. Woodson of Mechanicsville.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Richmond Scottish Rite Childhood Language Center, P.O. Box 9136, Richmond 23227. (Obituary is courtesy of Shelley A., volunteer for RAOGK.)
