Ralph "Jack" Roper, 82, a resident of Gooding, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012 at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.
Jack was born April 27, 1930 in Mountain View, Arkansas to Willis and Ollie Roper. He was raised and educated in Upland, California and graduated from Chaffey High School.
After graduation, Jack served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in March of 1953.
Jack married Kathy Bentley on February 29, 1976 in Upland, California.
He was a member of the Baptist Church, and the Gooding Country Club.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Kathy, of Gooding; six children, Randy Roper, of Ontario, CA, Jeff (Susan) Roper, of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, George (Sandra) Jackman, of Gooding, Peggy (Danny) Becker, of Jerome, Annette Casanas, of Gooding, and James (Jennie) Jackman, of Phelan, CA; 10 grandchildren: Dylan, Danae, Drew, Destiny, and Dustie Jackman; Lorie Becker; Brandon and Megan Casanas; Erik and Ralna Roper; 10 great-grandchildren, Kyle Wooley; Amanda Johns; Layna, Porter, Ava and Norah Jackman; Otto, Ethan and Evelyn Gericke; and Melanie Roper; one great-great-grandchild, Jadyn Wooley; two sisters, Laverne Payne and Louise (Tony) Harman, all of Upland, CA.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Olive Roper; two sisters, Mary Hardwick and Lea Batchelor; and one brother, J.B. Roper.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel. Burial will take place at a later date in Ontario, California.
