Linda Joyce Witt, of Bourbon County, beloved wife and mother, was born October 26, 1951, daughter of the late James Randal and Dorothy Adkins Hughes of Simpsonville, KY and was called to heaven by our Lord on December 20, 2012.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Malcomb Witt; one son, David Nelson Witt (Jenna Clemmons); a sister, Norma (Bill) Watts, Rochester, NY; two brothers, James Randal (Marianne) Hughes Jr., Bradenton, FL, Gerald W. (Carolyn) Hughes, DeKalb, TX; and three beautiful grandchildren, Katelynn and Kirstin Witt and Caiden Reynolds. Linda was preceded in death by her beloved son, James Douglas 'Dougie' Witt.

She was educated in the Shelby County school system, graduating from Shelby County High School. After graduating from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, she worked for Hubbock of Kentucky. Eventually settling in the life insurance business, she became office manager for Kentucky Central Life Insurance. Linda worked there for many years, taking every opportunity of furthering her knowledge of the business, attending seminars and studies and honing her leadership and communication skills in Toastmasters International. She contributed much to the business by introducing new economizing and management techniques. When Kentucky Central was bought by Jefferson Pilot, she kept working in insurance until Jefferson Pilot moved to Greensburg, NC. Offered a transfer, she declined so she could remain in the area she loved. She worked with Carter and Witt, serving as treasurer, managing the office payroll and bookkeeping. She introduced her knowledge of computerization from Kentucky Central to the company's bookkeeping system.

Another love of Linda's life was supporting her husband, farming, gardening, and landscaping the yard to which she brought her artistic and design talent. Linda was a devoted Christian, attending Centerville United Methodist Church faithfully, being a major contributor and serving as Sunday School teacher. She was a delegate to the Methodist Conventions in Louisville and also active in the choir, participating in outreach programs for the elderly, and on occasion being substitute preacher. Linda was a dedicated housewife and mother, supporting her children at Center Hill School, being room mother and faithfully attending activities. Over the years she opened her home to many children with no place to go. She was a friend to all; her kindness and humor winning the love of everyone she encountered. She had an infectious smile, gentle and kind, that was always present. She will be cherished forever.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 27, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Pastor Jill Ruhl and Pastor Cameron Rash with burial in Jacksonville Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Ron Carter, Kevin Arnold, Tom Witt, Gary Thomas, John Carter, Jerry Hughes, Ricky Witt, and Lloyd Witt. Honorary bearers will be Wayne Logan, Mike Toohey, Jerry Dennis, Jim Hughes, Mark Jacobson, and Clarence Haney. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 26. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Care Center at Saint Joseph Hospital, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.
