She was the former Marion E. Schomberg, born March 18, 1929 in Sheboygan, daughter of the late Otto & Leona (Dengel) Schomberg.
Marion was a 1947 graduate of Howards Grove High School.
On June 5, 1948 she married Earl Roethel at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Town of Herman.
Earl preceded her in death on May 20, 1998.
Together Marion and Earl farmed in the Town of Meeme until 1979. She also cleaned homes and the offices at Nigrelli Systems in School Hill for many years.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Schwarzwald and the Womens Guild.
Marion enjoyed embroidering towels, traveling, collecting angels, salt & pepper shakers and polka dancing.
Survivors include her children; Gerald (Coreen) Roethel, Westby, WI., Karen (Edgar) Karsteadt, rural Plymouth, six grandchildren: Eric (Lisa) Roethel, David (Angie) Roethel, Gail (Aaron) Bolstad, Paula Gates, Kristy (Edward) Pahl, Mark Karsteadt, thirteen great grandchildren; Jordan, Adam, Owen, Joseph, Bethany, Benjamin, Alexander, Natalie, Elias, Star, Aiden, Emma, Carter. She is further survived by her sister, Joan (Philip) DeMunck, Chisago City, MN, sister-in-law, Doris (Orville) Knoener, Howards Grove, nieces , nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Jewson and one brother-in-law, Leroy Roethel.
Funeral services for Marion will be held on Tuesday December 18, 2012 at St. John's UCC, Schwarzwald (W3401 Orchard Rd. Elkhart Lake WI) with the Rev. Robert Hamilton officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
