One record states May 12, 1822, for the date of marriage; the other record gives Dec 12, 1823.
Contributor Denise Rowley sent a transcription of the Marriage License which clearly states that Simon and Nancy were wed on May 12, 1822 in Dallas County, Alabama.
Nancy is found in the Federal Census Record of June 26, 1880 with her husband Simon West living in Itawamba County, Mississippi.
Her year of death is given as 1890 in some of the Ancestry Family Trees.
There's a Bernetta Thompson, born 1820, living in the household of Simon and Nancy West, in the 1850 and 1870 Federal Census Records. Simon, Nancy and Bernetta all state that they were born in North Carolina. I'm not sure if Bernetta is the child of Nancy from a first and brief marriage or if Bernetta is a much younger sibling of Nancy. If Bernetta is from a previous marriage, we don't have Nancy's maiden name.
