James Edward DeHart

James Edward DeHart, 80, of Diehlstadt, died December 19, 2012, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. Born April 14, 1932, in Beech Grove, Ark., to the late Cullen E. and Sarah (Phelan) DeHart, he was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1952-1954. A resident of Diehlstadt since 1960, he was employed by Cargill, Inc., retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston. On March 1, 1955, in St. Louis, he married Peggy Ann Hart, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons and three daughters-in-law, David and Kim DeHart of Sikeston, Eric and Angie DeHart of Commerce and Tricia DeHart of Commerce; three brothers, Joe DeHart, Chick DeHart and Dallas DeHart, all of Paragould, Ark.; and two sisters, Frances Dacus and Cathy Rothe, both of Paragould. Six grandchildren also survive, Chris and Beth DeHart of Benton, Sarah (DeHart) and Steve Moore of Kelso, Cullen DeHart of Nashville, Tenn., Anna Catherine DeHart of Sikeston, and Jon-Dalton and Abigail DeHart of Commerce; and four great grandchildren, Ryan and Lacey DeHart and Alyssa and Alaney Moore.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Leigh Ann DeHart; one son, Terry E. DeHart; two brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00pm this evening at the Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston, where funeral services will be conducted at 10:00am on Saturday, December 22, with Johnny Hester and Pat Hogan, officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Ronnie Pullen, Glenn Pinkerton, Kenny Pinkerton, Doug Burleson, Derek Burleson and Rodger Jones. Honorary pallbearer will be Terry Cole.
