Mr. Niles was born October 11, 1920, in Shelbyville, IL, son of Norton and Gertrude (Dildine) Niles. A WWII Army Staff Sergeant, Glenn worked as a shift foreman at A.E. Staley's before retiring in 1983. He attended God's Abundant Love Fellowship and married Hilda R. Ferris on March 12, 1947 in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Hilda of Mt. Zion; daughters: Donna (Lyle) Richards of Nixa, MO, and Carol (Steven Michael) Vail of Mt. Zion; sons: Terry (Tina) Niles, and Billy Jo Niles of Mt. Zion, Kevin (Sherry) Niles of Heyworth; six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and four step great grandchildren; half brother, Avon (Harriet) Niles of Ramsey; half sisters: Sally (Albert) Price of Mt. Zion, Betty Ferris of Tolono, and Barb Bland of Decatur; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Mr. Niles was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Glenn Eugene, Jr.; one brother, four sisters and one half sister. .
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 22, 2012 from 2 to 4 pm in the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 am Monday, April 23, 2012 in the funeral home. Burial with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will follow in Graceland Cemetery concluding with the "Flight Home" Ceremony. Memorials: American Cancer Society or American Lung Association.
