Master engraver, appointed by King George III as 'Historical Engraver to His Majesty' after the enormous success of his print of the death of General Wolfe (q.v.). His monument shows 'the Genius of Engraving handing down to posterity the works of painting, sculpture and architecture; whilst Fame is distribution them over the four quarters of the globe.'
