THE PARIS NEWS, Nov. 11, 2005: 'John David Spradlin, 69, of Lamar Point died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at Deport Nursing Home. Graveside rites will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Union Grove Cemetery in Reno with the Rev. Brad Crosswhite officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. The family receives friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. He was born Feb. 28, 1936, in Paris, to Floyd and Dotsy Ray Spradlin. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and married Dorothy Ann Killian in 1965. She died in August of 2001. He later married Linda Huckeba on Nov. 18, 2002, in Hugo, Okla. He worked as a foreman for Otis Engineering for 38 years and after his retirement, he worked for the Denton County Sheriff's Department as a bailiff. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton where he served as a deacon. He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Mike Spradlin, David Spradlin and Cindy Spradlin, Mark O'Dea, Christy Carraway, Nicole Farner and Laura Liverman; his grandchildren, Michelle and Allison Spradlin, Auburn and Will Carraway, Maura and Miranda O'Dea, Lindsey and Trey Farner and Chase and Nicole Baxter; and two sisters, Deloris Keyes and Patti Hevron. Honorary pallbearers will be Chase Baxter, Bobby Spencer, Billy Abercrombie, Charles Gaskill, Donnie Huckeba and Nathan Liverman. Members of the Denton County Sheriff's Department will provide the honor guard.'
