RIO – Herman O. Hegna, 76, died at St. Savior's Hospital in Portage, Thursday morning, December 20, following a long illness.

Funeral services were held from the Thompson Chapel Saturday, December 22, at 2 p.m., the Reverend E.W. Wilson officiating. Burial was in the Bonnet Prairie Cemetery. The pallbearers were Jay Thornton, Hans Sanden, Sigurd Sanden, Oscar Austin, Theodore Halverson and Oscar Reierson.

Surviving besides his wife Annie are seven children; Oscar Hegna of Poynette, Clarence Hegna of Rio, Alva, Mrs. Edward Borde of Rio, Alvin C. Hegna of Barron, hazel, Mrs. John B. Olson, of Rio, Alenda, Mrs. Paul Hanson of Arlington and Lyle Hegna, at home. A daughter, Mabel, Mrs. Herman Skaret, preceded him in death. Two of fourteen grandchildren are dead and there are five great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters and two brothers; Hans Hegna of Elbow Lake, Minnesota; Tena, Mrs. Ole S. Hill of Stillwater, Minnesota; Hannah, Mrs. William Anderson of Spokane, Washington; Clara, Mrs. Edward Otterholt of Chetek; Sever Hegna of Rice lake. Three sisters, Trena, Nellie and Emma, and a brother, Hans, preceded him in death.

Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were Alvin Hegna, Sever Hegna and Mrs. Edward Otterholt and the Reverend and Mrs. E. Ylvesker.
