Charles was the son of John and Alice Swett Hambel. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Charles Russell (b. 1919, d. July 5, 1942)

McConnelsville, Morgan County, Ohio

Charles E. Hambel, lifelong citizen of Homer Township and a member of a pioneer family of that locality, died Saturday afternoon at Sheltering Arms Hospital at Athens, following a two weeks illness. He was 75 years of age and was a son of John and Alice Hambel. His wife was the late Jennie Hambel. surviving are six sons; Earl of Glouster, Everett of Philo, Denver and Eugene of Malta, Homer of Trimble, and John of Columbus; two daughters, Mrs. Virgil Border and Mrs. Wayne Border of Trimble; three brothers, Pearl of Zanesville, George of Columbus, and Lawrence of Crooksville; and three sisters, Mrs. Adda Koker, Athens, Mrs. Mattie Goodrich, Michigan, and Mrs. Lydia Faust, Akron. Funeral services were held at the Blower funeral home, Glouster, with burial at Maplewood Cemetery.
