George WOLF and his wife Mary Sibilla were devout Roman Catholics and the parents of 11 children. They were married in Oct. 23, 1860 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Erie, Erie Co., PA.

George and Sibilla celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a mass at the Notre Dame cathedral. The newspaper picture of George on this memorial is from the Tribune article that described the 50th anniversary mass.

According to German Catholic records available from the family history library in Salt Lake City, George John Wolf was born in Hoerdt, Pfaltz, Bayern.

Hoerdt (Hördt) is a small rural town located in the German state of Rheinland-Pfalz (Rheinland-Palatinate in English). Formerly, in the 19th century, the Pfalz was part of the Kingdom of Bavaria. This modern state is distinct from the German federal state of Bavaria.

Hoerdt is not a choice in the FAG drop down menu, but it can be found by searching Google maps. A strict "literal-rules-following" FindAGrave member asked me to remove the link but you can find it on google maps by searching "google maps hoerdt germany"
