Nickelsville- Fred E. Anderson, 88, of Nickelsville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday night (April 21, 2010) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of Scott County. Fred retired as a carpenter with O.M. Good with over 20 years of service. He attended Midway United Methodist Church. Mr. Anderson loved music & especially loved to play the fiddle. He enjoyed spending time at the Pickin Parlor with Leonard Stallard along with many other friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Della Mae White Anderson; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Hommell Anderson; his sister, Mae Anderson; his brothers, David W. Anderson & Harvey L. Anderson.
Fred E. Anderson is survived by his son, Fred "Sonny" Anderson, Jr. (Mount Carmel, TN); a sister, Flo McConnell (Weber City, VA) along with several nieces, nephews, great friends & wonderful neighbors.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday (April 25, 2010) from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday (April 25, 2010) at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Paul Blessing officiating. Music will be provided by JR. Hensley & J.C Radford. A graveside service will follow the funeral at Holston View Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his friends at the Pickin Parlor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 W. Farris Road, Greenville, SC 29605. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Anderson family.
