On June 26, 1947, Eileen ws united in marriage to Melvin Hoffman. One daughter was born to this union. Eileen taught in the Clayton County Rural Schools and at Strawberry Point schools for 30 plus years. She retired in 1987. In 2001, Eileen moved to Oelwein to live with her daughter and in 2008 made her home at the Oelwein Healthcare Center.
Eileen was a member of the United Methodist Church and Ladies Circle. She enjoyed her family, gardening and reading.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Tom) Kringlen of Oelwein; her three grandchildren, Michelle (Joe) Ludwig of Independence; Kersten (Troy) Toebben of Lithia Springs, Georgia, and Ryan Kringlen of Oelwein; five great-grandchildren; and her twin sister, Ersileen Marquardt of Sumner.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Irvie and Alma Carpenter; her husband, Melvin Hoffman on December 27, 2001; and four siblings, Art Carpenter, Bernice Carpenter, Ivadell Carpenter, and Duane Carpenter.
