James Allen Bird was born August 13, 1959 in Creston to Frances Dell (Lee) Bird and Jerry Lee Bird. He graduated from Creston High School. Jim served in the U.S. Army from November 18, 1976 to November 17, 1979. Jim lived his entire life in Creston. On May 30, 1980 he was united in marriage to Lana Marie Richards. He worked as a carpenter and also cooked. Jim was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Creston.
Survivors include his wife Lana Bird of Creston, three daughters Jennifer (husband Warren) Davis of Lenox, Jessica (husband Mickenzie) Hagen of Orient, Alex Bird of Creston, one son Jeremy Bird of Altoona, three brothers Jerry (wife Cheryl) Bird of Oklahoma City, Okla., Jeff Bird of Creston, Joel (wife Brenda) Bird of Atlantic and three grandchildren Hannah, Chloe and Abigail Davis, all of Lenox. He was preceded in death by his parents.
