Lillian Hersom, 84, formerly of 4 Sprucewood Drive, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at the Rochester Manor after a lengthy illness.

She was born Aug. 20, 1928, in Acton, Maine, the daughter of the late Fred and Marilla (Prescott) Goldthwaite. Mrs. Hersom has resided in this area all of her life and owned and operated her hair salon, The Modern Beauty Shop, for 40 years.

She was a member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church and the Daughters of American Revolution. She was also an Avon representative for 15 years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles and reading.

The widow of Robert Hersom, who passed away in 2006 and to whom she had been married for 60 years, she is survived by one daughter, Linda Nylund and her companion, Ray Dore of Rochester; grandson, Erik Nylund of Manchester; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Arnold Fall, Robert Goldthwaite and sister, Edna Cronin.

Family and friends may visit Thursday Nov. 29, 2012, from 1-3 p.m. at the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main Street, Rochester N.H. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery, Franklin Street, Rochester, N.H. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Walnut Grove Baptist Church, Salmon Falls Road, Rochester N.H. 03867.
