Elizabeth Majel Guthrie, 79 year old long time area resident, died early Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the Craig General Hospital in Vinita. She was born July 13, 1933 in White Oak, to Calvin S. and Elizabeth Beverly (Bowman) Dick. Majel was a graduate of White Oak High School. She married Charles Ray "Chalk" Guthrie on June 19, 1956 in Vinita at the First Baptist Church. Majel was a charter member of the White Oak Baptist Church. She had been a resident of the Heartsworth House the last two years. Majel was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chalk Guthrie in 2003, daughter, Sarah Jent in 2006, and her brother, James Dick.
The surviving family includes: her daughter Mary Ann Kinzer and companion Tom Gross of Monkey Island, a son David Guthrie of Tulsa, sister, Roberta Coombes and husband J. C. of Vinita; son in-law Eddie Jent of Sand Springs; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the White Oak Baptist Church, with Pastor Leland Bartlett officiating, with the Eulogy by Donna McSpadden. Interment will follow at the Timpson Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com.
