Robert Lee Worth
Dec 23, 1942-Dec 16, 2012

Robert Lee Worth, 69, of Scottsbluff, formerly of Bayard, was called home on Dec. 16, 2012, after a long battle with colon cancer, at home with family by his side.
Funeral services will be Dec. 21.Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. Robert was the eighth child of eleven born to Johann George and Mary Amelia(Schaub)Worth Dec. 23, 1942 in Scottsbluff. Robert was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff. He attended school at Haig, Victory Hill, Fairview 50, Minatare and Scottsbluff Junior High. He lived not only in Western Nebraska but Riverton and Lander, Wyo. before moving back to Gering. Robert married Janet Burbach Sept. 2, 1963 at Emmanuel Congregational Church in Scottsbluff. They lived in Scottsbluff and Gering before starting to farm east of Minatare in 1970. They farmed for Dr. Hrnicek in 1975 and in 1984 farmed for Hank, Helen and Carol Jerger. Robert loved farming and living and raising his family in the country. He worked hard with no time for a vacation, unless you call 28 hours away from home a real vacation. There was always work that couldn't wait. Robert not only wanted the crops to be weed free but all the way to the ditch. He didn't want a snake hiding there, as he wanted to keep his irrigation help. In 1981 he received the Western Sugar Company High 10 Grower Award, and 10,000 Pound Club Award. In 1991, 1993 and 1996 he was awarded the Bayard District Factory West Superior Beet Quality Award. He was always ready to help out a friend or neighbor needing a helping hand. Robert also worked at Scottsbluff Sash and Door, Greenwalt's Farm & Feed and Gering Sugar Factory as centrifugal foreman.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 49 years Janet; daughters, Robin and special friend David, Joylyn (Jeff) and Jennee (Everett); three grandchildren, April and boyfriend Nate and Robbie and girlfriend Ashton, and Jerod; great-granddaughter, Gracelyn and another due in June 2013; sisters and their husbands June and Alex, Jackie and Don, and Jane and Neal; sisters-in-law, and Janet's sister Betty (Bob) and brother Mark (Chris) and numerous nephews and nieces. Preceding Robert in departure from this life were his parents; grandparents; brothers, Vergil, Ervin, Calvin and Jack Joe; sisters, Gloria and husband Harley, Mary Ann and Judy; grand-son, Logan Henry; nephew, Jim; great-nieces, Samantha and Whitney and in-laws, Henry and Lilllian.
