A memorial service for Nellie A. Horne, 94, rural Geary County will be held at 1:30 PM, December 21, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Flint Hills Chapel, 137 N Union St, Council Grove, KS with Pastor Christy Alexander officiating. A graveside inurnment service will follow at Welcome Cemetery.

Mrs. Horne passed away Sunday December 9, 2012 at Council Grove Assisted Living Council Grove, KS. Cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be given to the Geary 4-H Foundation, P.O. Box 28, Junction City, KS 66441 or Hand In Hand Hospice 1201 W 12th Ave. Emporia, KS 66801.

Mrs. Horne was born May 20, 1918, Geary County, KS to Henry (Harry) and Crissie (Doverspike) Say. She was a housewife/farmwife. She enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for the surrounding area. She enjoyed making many crafts, plastic canvas, knitting, crochet and many others. She was a member of the VFW, Welcome Ladies and HDU. She was very active with Geary County 4-H Extension and the McDowell Creek Community Center.

She married Clarence Horne July 29, 1940; he preceded her in death October 1, 2010. Survivors include her son Robert Horne and wife Nancy, of Geary County; two grandchildren, LaDonna Flynn and Scott Horne; four great-grandchildren, Kourtney Flynn, Crissie Flynn, Martin Horne and Micala Horne; and three step great-grandchildren Hannah, Christian, and Caleb.

She was also preceded in death by her father Harry and mother Crissie, two brothers Henry and Charles and one sister Julia.
