Ann Crackel was born at Butterwick, Lincolnshire, England, Oct. 12, 1823 and she was married to John Butterick in 1842. In the year of 1850 they came to this country.
To this union was born twelve children, seven of whom are living, the husband and five children preceding her to the other world.
The surviving children are William, of Cowling; John, of Browns; Mrs. Anne Vyse, of Browns; Mrs. Mary Saniker, of Scottsbluff, Neb., Mrs. Harriet Arnold, of Broken Arrow, Okla., Mrs. Hannah Root, of Lambert, Okla., and Mrs. Louis Arnold, of Browns.
She is also survived by four brothers, James of England; Joe of Sailor Springs; Wat of Clay City, Ill., and Charles of Browns; and one sister, Mrs. Harriet Cogon, of England.
Mrs. Butterick was a member of the Baptist Church, having united with the church at Browns several years ago. Since the death of her husband, thirty-six years ago, she remained a widow, and lived on the old home place two and one-half miles southwest of Browns for several years. Later on, she moved to Browns and for the last three years being in very feeble health, she made her home with her two daughters, Mrs. John Vyse and Mrs. Louis Arnold.
Her death occurred at the home of the latter on August 25. Her age was 84 years, 10 months and 13 days. Mrs. Butterick was one of the noblest types of women and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. McCann of the Baptist Church, at the M. E. Church in Browns Thursday afternoon at 5:00 o'clock. Burial was made in the old cemetery at Albion.
