Former Sheriff Bruce Craig Durham, age 75, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012 at Lincoln Medical Center in Fayetteville, Tenn. He was a native of Henryville, Tenn., retired law enforcement officer, a member of the VFW and the Henryville United Methodist Church. Mr. Durham served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He also served as Sheriff of Lawrence County from 1990-1994.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonah Gilbert and Ruby Craig Durham; his wife, Frances McCafferty Durham; four brothers, Lewis Durham, Bub Durham, Gene Durham, and Joe Durham; and one sister, Vivian Ingram.
He is survived by one son Calvin Durham (MaryBeth), Florence, Ala.; one daughter Sonya Abbott (Greg), Summertown, Tenn.; five grandchildren Mary Caitlin Durham, Matthew Christian Durham, Ashlin Brooke Abbott, Michael Keith Abbott and Emily Renee Abbott.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 with Rickey Wade officiating. Interment will follow at Henryville Cemetery in Henryville, Tenn. with full military honors.
