Born in Fetterville, he was the son of the late John E. Hollinger, Sr. and Lottie B. Fellenbaum Hollinger.
Aaron graduated from Eastern Mennonite College in 1952, from Eastern Mennonite Seminary in 1954 and had studied Greek and Hebrew for two years at Lancaster Theological Seminary.
A member of the Weaverland Mennonite Church, he was ordained to Christian ministry for the church on July 17, 1957 and ordained Bishop of the Weaverland District on February 15, 1975. He retired from his official duties in 1993.
He had also worked for Provident Bookstore for 25 years and was the overseer for Lancaster Conference for seven church plantings in Northeastern Pennsylvania from 1975-1993.
He was active on various committees including the Religious Welfare and Youth Service Committees of Lancaster Conference for 24 years; Lancaster Conference Commission of Leadership, 1998-2001; trustee of Philhaven Hospital Board, 15 years; trustee of Eastern Mennonite University, four years; Garden Spot Retirement Village board; the Senior Citizens Committee of Weaverland Church, 2001-2003; Assistant Editor of the Music Messenger, 1967-1979; and was a 1-W Counselor during World War II.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children: Edwin, married to M. Jane Martin Hollinger, New Holland, Colleen C., married to Charles D. Keller, Lititz and Carla S., married to Duane Martin, Reinholds; six grandchildren and a brother, Mark, married to Dorothy Kuiaski Hollinger, Akron.
He was preceded in death by three sisters: Rhoda Petersheim, Miriam Hollinger and Eva Martin and five brothers: Paul, Wayne, John E., Jr., Homer and Luke.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 17 at 11 AM at the Weaverland Mennonite Church with Bishop C. Kenneth Martin, Pastor Marlin Burkholder, and Pastor Leon Hurst officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery on Tuesday at 9 AM. A viewing will be held at the church on Monday from 5 to 8 PM. There will be no viewing Tuesday, but the family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM.
