Doris Alvida Ringsrud was born March 30, 1917 in Mayville, ND to James and Nellie (Birkeland) Ringsrud, the fourth of five children. She grew up and attended country schools near Mayville, ND, graduating from Mayville High School. She then continued her education at Mayville State Teachers College.
On May 7, 1938, she married Ingvald Braaten in Hatton, ND. They farmed in the Mayville area until 1960 when they moved to Fargo, ND. Ingvald died in 1981.
She worked for St. Lukes Hospital, Fargo, ND in the Food Service Dept. from 1960 until retiring in 1983.
She is survived by four daughters, Marguerite (Kenneth) Willeson, LaMirada, CA, Natalie (Robert) Thompson, Moorhead, MN, Irene (John) Hocking, Vancouver, WA and Sandra (Richard) Boles, Prior Lake, MN; 13 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, an infant daughter, Solveig Elaine, an infant grandson, Christopfer Dean and four brothers, Gerhard, Leif, Laurence and James.
Funeral: Thursday, October 14, 2010, 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.
Visitation: One hour prior to services at the church.
Burial: Bethany Cemetery, Hatton, ND.
