Ira was a veteran and proudly served his country during World War II as a Firefighter First Class in the U.S. Navy. He spent two years in the Pacific Theater. After his military service, he worked as a consultant for many overseas oil companies. He spent more than 56 years in New Mexico, owning and operating a new and used store, in which he worked up until his death.
Ira was a lifelong red, white, and blue patriot and was truly "Made in America."
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Dorothy Ellis; and second wife, Marlene Ellis.
He is survived by his son, Ira G. Ellis and wife, Martha, of Montgomery, Texas; grandchildren, Angela Chapman and husband, Butch, and Ira N. Ellis and wife, Kim all of Montgomery; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will hold a memorial service and inurnment at a later date.
In lieu of traditional remembrances, the family requests that memorials be made in Ira's name to a charity of one's choice.
