James Keith Archer, Sr., known to most as "Jim," 70, Salem, formerly of St. Clair, departed this life on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, in Sullivan. 


Jim was born in Evansville, Ind., Oct. 19, 1942, the son of John Milton Archer and wife Elfrieda Marquerite, nee Harmes.


On April 29, 1961, he was united in marriage to Betty Carol Bradshaw and four children came to bless this union.


Jim is survived by three sons, James K. Archer, Jr., known to most as "Keith," and wife Loretta, Jason Wayne Archer, all of Salem, and Randy Lee Archer, St. Clair; daughter, Rebecca Sue Hutson and husband John, Gray Summit; two brothers, Robert Archer and wife Mary, Winchester, and Michael Archer, Valley Park; six sisters, Donna White and husband Jerry, Ozawkie, Kan., Sharon Embry and husband Darrel, Evansville, Ind., Anita Davis and husband Bob, Princetown, Ind., Linda Wood, Ballwin, Debra Siegmund, Union, and Nancy Basden, St. Peters; by 10 grandchildren, Stacy Pauley, David Medlin, Christa Brown, Amanda Archer, Chris Archer, Jason Archer Jr., Tyler Dabbs, Alex Archer, Avery Archer and Zander Hemker; eight great-grandchildren, Grace Pauley, Joel Pauley, Cadence Brown, Benjamin Pauley, Preston Brown, Summer Price, William Price and Allison Archer; one sister-in-law; nieces; nephews; great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Archer; and parents, John and Elfrieda Archer.


Jim was a devoted Christian and member of Freewill Baptist Church, Salem. His favorite pastime was sharing the Word of the Lord with others. 


During his working years, Jim was employed as a driver by Poole Trucking Company and Becca Trucking Company, retiring after many years on the road. 


After he retired, Jim enjoyed making picnic tables and traveling. Nothing made him happier than the time he spent with his family and many happy memories were created. Each of Jim's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.


Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with Pastor Daryl Lynn officiating. 


Interment was in Anutt Cemetery, Anutt. 


Memorials may be made to the Anutt Cemetery.


The family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
