Wilbur Franklin Cordell, Son of Elmer Thornton and Marlieo Marie Allen-Cordell of Warren, Belmont, Ohio, USA... Wilbur was served with the USAAF in WWII and lost his life when his plane, B17G 42-38026 "My Day" 401st Bomber Group crashed near Holtenau-Kiel Germany...

The plane was hit by FLAK and exploded in mid-air, killing 9 crew members. 1 crew member was taken prisoner. The remains of the killed crew members were buried at the garnison military cemetery of Kiel on 25 May 1944.
