MARION - Mrs. Ethel Ellis Lane, 86, widow of Sherwood Gordon Lane, died Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Mullins Nursing Center after an illness. Mrs. Lane, a loving mother and grandmother, was born May 17, 1926 in Marion County, a daughter of the late John Cleveland Ellis and the late Nannie Mize Ellis.
Mrs. Lane had worked as a claims representative for Production Credit Association. She was also a homemaker, who loved taking care of her family and home. She was a member of Marion Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Lane are a son, Woody (Becky) Lane of Marion; a daughter, Cheryl (Dann) Snipes of Marion; 4 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, at Rose Hill Cemetery, with her granddaughter, Cookie Cawthon and Dr. Denly Caughman officiating. The services will be directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home of Marion.
