Dear Daughter
I thought I would try & answer your letter which I got last week. I am well all but my eyes I am blind & can not see any thing the folks are all well as far as I know. The lighting struk our hourse & came in the house at the south door & gave me such a shock that I have not been well since. I haven't seen Tom for a long time but he is still in Deerfield & All Redy is still in Deerfield but he is talking about going to Baker City in about 10 days.
Green & his family was down Christmas & stayed 2 weeks w/us & was sick when she was down but I have got a letter from her since & she is better. Linn is still working at the same place & Mary Lizzy Bird is staying w/Ice. There has been a good deal of sickness in this country & a good many deaths.
Ida calls her baby Lee Ola & it is fat, it is pretty but Ida says but I not see it. Ida & Henry don't write to nobody because they have a phone in their house & they do all their in talking.
Well Lizzy they had a wreck at the dry wood bridge east of Deerfield & 10 cars went into the river & they have been 3 weeks getting them out & the cars were all loaded there was 13 cattle killed & an 18 year old boy. There were 8 cars loaded w/goods & floating down the river & every body was picking up everything they could.
Well daughter we have moved on a new place. Henry rented his place for cash & rented another place for grain & Marvin Burris has sold his place, bought another & moved to Nevada.
When you write to me again tell me what Jasper King has done w/his little children. Well, Lizzy my birthday is the 6 of March & I will be 83 years old. Well I can not come to see you but I want you to write often & tell the girls to write.
Well I will close this time & answer soon.
