Minnie "Lorene" Bennett, 78, of Edmond, Okla., passed away December 17, 2012 in Edmond.

Lorene was born November 13, 1934 to Robert F. and Hannah D. Myers, and raised in the booming metropolis of Eldorado, Okla., where she was a 1952 graduate of Eldorado High School. There, she excelled in basketball and was instrumental in nearly taking their team to state finals.

She then worked and later retired from Edmond Memorial Hospital where she served as an LPN. Lorene was also a member of the Edmond Senior Citizen's Volleyball Team and was an avid garage-saler extraordinaire.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Densel and Dale Myers; and sisters Lavryl Parks and Dora Beth Freeman.

Lorene is survived by her son, Gary Bennett and Jenny Lovely of Guthrie, Okla., and daughter Saundra Bingham and husband Larry of Vamoosa, Okla.; brother Harold Myers and wife Barbara of Wash.; and granddaughters Rachel Bennett and Dellana Bingham.

Services for Lorene will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2012 at the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel with a graveside service at 4 p.m. at the Eldorado Cemetery in Eldorado.

Donations may be made to the Edmond E.A.R.C., Hope Center or Senior Citizen's Center.

Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond.
