Carl was the 5th of 7 children, (William Allen, Lillian M, Minnie, Viola H, Carl, Ella Mae & Guy E) born to Henry Allen Evelsizer and Miranda A Sailors. He grew up in eastern Tazewell and western Woodford Counties in central Illinois. He married Mary Amelia Hexamer of Secor on Dec 1 1909 in Eureka, IL. They had 8 children, (Lorene, Floyd, Erma, Dorothy, Raymond, Wilma, Kenneth & Elsie), with the 2nd and 4th dying as infants of smallpox. The family moved from Congerville, IL to Bagley, Iowa in 1914, where the 3rd child was born. In 1916, the family returned to Congerville so that Mary would be close to her family in case Carl got drafted for WW-I. He didn't get that call. 3 more children were born there before the family moved to Gilman in 1924, where the last two children were born. Carl was a farmer all of his life, retiring from that in 1959 at the age of 71. Carl and Mary moved into town to live out their remaining years while relaxing and enjoying their 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren
