On June 10, 1943, he married Evelyn Cockroft in Delta. They spent a year in Miltonvale and then pioneered a church in Chanute, Kan. They returned to Miltonvale, and Mr. Babcock pastored a nearby country church, Antioch, while finishing his education. He graduated and was ordained as a minister in the Wesleyan Church in August 1946. Interested in working with country churches, he also pastored near Burr Oak, Wesley Center, for three years and New Hope near Concordia for two years. The family's children were born during the years in Kansas.
In 1952, Mr. Babcock and his family moved to Morgan County to be near his parents. In 1954, they moved to Greeley where Mr. Babcock began working for the Goldsmith Dairy in 1956 and then worked for the Poudre Valley Dairy in Fort Collins until his retirement in 1980.
Mr. Babcock and his wife traveled throughout the United States and made six trips to Europe during their early retirement years. He was baptized in the Methodist Church in Alma, Neb. He had been a member of the Greeley Wesleyan Church since 1952.
Survivors are his wife, Evelyn Babcock of Greeley; three daughters, Carol Babcock of Greeley, Sharol Little of Manhattan, Kan., and Janet Sleichter of Abilene, Kan.; two sons, Richard of Fort Morgan and David of Vienna, Austria; two sisters, Bonnie Goracke and Mollie Goracke; two brothers, William Babcock and Dean Babcock; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. His parents, a sister, a brother and a grandson are deceased.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Greeley Wesleyan Church. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley.
Friends may visit from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Adamson Memorial West Chapel, Greeley.
