Margaret Crockett Cooley was the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Wilson Crockett who moved to Robertson County, Tennessee from Pennsylvania in 1788. Goodspeed of Robertson County, Tennessee records that he built Crockett's Station in that year. Margaret, who was named for her father's mother, was born in Robertson County in the NEW state of Tennessee. In Samuel Crockett's Bible was written, "Margaret Crockett was born in the State of Tennessee July 31st, 1797 at eleven O'clock in the evening."
In addition to being named in the Bible, Margaret is named in the estate settlement of her father, albeit with her husband's name, and in then in the estate settlement of her mother.

Margaret married William Truitt Cooley in 1815. The couple moved to Humphreys County, Tennessee sometime between the 1820 and 1830 Census.
The census records show that Margaret and William had at least 4 children. It appears that only the three girls survived until adulthood: Martha Cooley (married B. S.Bowen), Mary C. W. Cooley (married Samuel Alexander Larkins), and Paralee Cooley (married John J. Young).
In 1847, William named his wife, Margaret, the administrator of his will. The court wished to appoint B.S. Bowen, Margaret and William's son-in-law, but B.S. refused to take his mother-in-law's place. B.S. and Margaret's brother, John, provided the bond for the probating of the will.
Margaret's daughter, Mary and her husband Samuel lived with Margaret on the farm. After the death of Mary, Margaret helped her son-in-law, Samuel, rear Mary and Samuel's children: Margaret, Ewing Martin, Wilson, Tera Eola, and Mary Willie. Margaret's other daughter, Paralee and her husband, died about the same time as Mary. These children lived on the neighboring farm with Margaret's oldest living daughter, Martha. [I have not located the graves of Paralee and John who are buried somewhere in Humphreys County. I strongly suspect that they are buried in this cemetery, too.)
William Truitt and Margaret Crockett Cooley belonged to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
