Jeanne C. Novak, age 82, of Birchwood, WI died Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Rice Lake Convalescent Center in Rice Lake, WI.

She was born July 2, 1930 in Chicago, IL to Charles and Regina (Manning) Crane. Jeanne graduated from Trinity High School in River Forest, IL and then earned her Bachelors Degree at Rosary College (Dominican University) going on to receive her Masters Degree in Education from National-Louis University in Evanston, IL. She was married to John Guare in December of 1950 and later was married to James Novak on May 17, 1974 in Wheaton, IL. Jeanne was a public school teacher in Chicago and later for the Birchwood School District. Jeanne served on the Board of Directors of the Loch Lomond Beach Club, was active in Red Barn Theatre, did some amateur acting and had 3 commercials that were televised.

Jeanne Novak is survived by her husband, James Novak of Birchwood, WI; 5 children, Timothy (Cami) Guare of Riverwoods, IL, Robert (Terri) Guare of Wheaton, IL, Patti Guare of Willowbrook, IL, Gina Guare of Willowbrook, IL and Peggy (Darlene Vendegna) Guare of Oakland, CA; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandsons; sister-in-law, Helen (Charles) Pechman of Birchwood, WI; brother-in-law, Jim (Janice) O'Brien of Nevada City, CA; and 5 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Regina Crane; sister, Patricia O'Brien; and brother, William Crane.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 17, 2012 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Birchwood, WI, Fr. David Oberts officiating, with interment in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 PM Sunday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and for one hour prior to the service at the Church.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to to the Birchwood Food Pantry or a charity of your choice.
