Strother A. Bowling, 71, of Connersville, died Saturday, April 5th, 2008, in Ocala, Florida.

He was born February 24th, 1937 to Tilford B. and Chelsie M. Depew Bowling in Henderson, KY. Strother graduated from College Corner High School in 1954. The following June, he entered the Air Force and attained the rank of Airman Second Class. He had worked as a mechanic for GTE until he retired in 1993 then he worked as a truck driver with Reis Trucking before retiring from their in 2007.

Living life his way, he enjoyed primitive camping, playing golf, building guitars, flying, and being with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of many years: Margaret Bowling of Connersville; two sons: David Bowling of Normal, IL, Jeff Hobbs of Richmond; two daughters: Margaret Manlove of Connersville; Debbie Green of Richmond; eight grandchildren: Chris, Justin, Danielle, Whitney, Janelle, Adam, Jeff, and Ben; three great-grandchildren Kaylee, Collin and Madison; six brothers: Kelly of Milroy; Shelby of Richmond, Roy of Villa Rica, GA; David of Menden; Tilford of Liberty; Tillman of Hampton, VA; five sisters: Cledith of Durham, NC; Ida of Ocala, FL; Neva of West College Corner, Diana and Martha both of Monroe, MI; several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents: Chelsie and Tip; three brothers: Curtis, Robert and Virgil.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, Indiana, with Pastor Rudy Allen of Oxford Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Richland Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post #122 and VFW Post # 1472. Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of Marion County.
