Soldier's Rites Set for Saturday

BEELICK KNOB - Funeral service will be conducted Saturday afternoon for Private Joseph R. Burnett, son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. D. Burnette, of Beelick Knob. Graveside rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. in the End of the Trail Cemetery with the Rev. Earnil Barlery, of Oak Hill officiating. Burnette was killed in action in Belgium on January 8, 1945, and was 22 years of age at the time of death. He was a member of the 502nd (sic)Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, Third Army, and was a member of the paratroop forces. Before entering service he was employed as a miner. Surviving besides the parents are a brother, Jack E. Burnette, of Beelick Knob, and two sisters, Miss Charlotte Burnette at home, and Mrs. Mary Richardson, of Beelick Knob.
