PFAFFTOWN - John Wayne "Johnny" Tuttle Sr., 67, passed away Friday, June 13, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, after several years of declining health. He was born Dec. 29, 1940, in Forsyth County to the late Norman Hobert Tuttle and Clarice Doub Tuttle. He was a member of Jefferson Church of Christ in Rural Hall. He served in the U.S. Army in Frankfurt, Germany, from 1960 to 1962 and was a member of American Legion Post 290 in King. John was a lifetime member of the NRA and an avid NASCAR fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Norman Hobert Tuttle Jr. and Kenneth Doub Tuttle; and a sister, Mildred Tuttle Smith. He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Fay Brown Tuttle of the home; sons John Wayne Tuttle Jr. of Pfafftown, and Terry Brown Tuttle of Rural Hall; and grandchildren Krystle, Nicholas, Travis and Natalie Tuttle. He is also survived by a brother, Bill Tuttle of Tobaccoville; and four sisters, Becky Joyce of Winston-Salem, and Barbara Westmoreland, Jo Bell and Betty Weber, all of Pfafftown. Memorial services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, June 16, at Jefferson Church of Christ, with Jerry Simpkins, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Jefferson Church of Christ Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jefferson Church of Christ, Building Fund, 8200 Jefferson Church Road, Rural Hall, NC 27045.
