He was born June 19, 1930, in Walnut Ridge, AR., to the late George Lewis and Sadie Bernice Fry Thornton.
Mr. Thornton proudly served his country in the Air Force and took part in the Berlin Airlift as well as serving in the Korean War. Mr. Thornton was also retired from General Motors.
He is survived by his loving wife Ann, of the home, his children, Donna LoMonaco, of Dallas, TX, George A. Thornton of San Francisco, CA, Gloria Kersey and husband Kyle of Caruthersville, MO, Kathy Ward and husband David of Jonesboro; grandsons, Josh LoMonaco and wife Shelly of Dallas, TX, Josh Meyer and wife Kristi of Sheridan, and Landon Kersey and wife Stacey of Caruthersville, MO; Great-grandchildren, Jake LoMonoco, McCurry Meyer and Kasen Wade Kersey; cousin, Jo Ann Gardner of Walnut Ridge.
Mr. Thornton was preceded in death by a special grandson, Randy Wayne Kersey.
Funeral Services were in the chapel of Gregg Langford-Bookout Funeral Home, Jonesboro with interment to in Nettleton Cemetery.
