BETTENDORF - Earl L. Wendland, 96, a lifelong resident of Bettendorf and Davenport, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012. He passed away at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

Per his request, there will be no visitation, and private family services will be held at Davenport Memorial Park.

Earl was born July 15, 1916, in Davenport, the son of Theodore and Caroline (Everman) Wendland. He was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Zmunt on Sept. 4, 1937, in Davenport. She preceded him in death on Sept. 4, 1975.

Earl was a homebuilder in the Quad-City area for many years and had most recently sold business signs. In earlier years, he was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Vikings Club.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Trudy Santilla of Orlando, Fla.; his sons, Todd Wendland of Orlando and Terry (Karen) Wendland of Lynchburg, Va.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Earl was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Hertha, Salesta, Grace and Vernice; and his brothers, Edwin and Ray.
