The elder Hunter, trader. settler. He was brother to Richard Wood and uncle to the younger William Wood. He was at Port Natal in June 1835, served on both the settlers' commandos against the Zulus, March and April 1838, and was killed at the Battle of the Tugela, 15 April 1838.
