Known as Ebe, son of Adolph and Louise Anheuser.
Grandson and namesake of the founder of Anheuser Busch. He was Chairman of the Board of Anheuser Busch after an active and brilliant career with the company. A respected businessman, he was given much credit for having made the Liberty Loans of World War I a sucess in his native city. He was active in the founding and maintenance of the Sunset Hills Country Club.
An unusual tribute was paid Ebe, August 1, 1940 by the The Censor, a weekly magazine published in St Louis. A portrait of him was published on the front cover and the inside page said:
As one watches the progress and growth of Anheuser Busch, Inc. from year to year, one cannot help being impressed by the fact that not a little of this sucess is due to the enterprising ability of those men who are directing it's destinies. One of those who has contributed his share to this sucess is Eberhard Anheuser, who besides being privileged to carry on an honored name and family reputation, has proved that he himself is a worthy business exectuve in his own right.
During the years that Anheuser has been associated with the Anheuser Busch brewery he has molded for himself a highly sucessful business career, which has been partially responsible for his being recognized as as one of the outstanding representative citizens of St Louis.
the article continued by saying He has given generously of his time and his effort in the work that is his and even devoted himself at other times to various civic and charitable causes, which have gone in the direction of establishing him firmly in the estimation of the people of this city.
One might also say that Anheuser's social life is one that may be attributed a success, which is fully understandable when one realizes that he is capably assisted in his social efforts by the charming and capable Mrs. Anheuser. From every standpoint it must be agreed that his success in life is a substantial one and one which demonstrates fully his right to carry on the fine name and reputation of the Anheuser family. Indeed, St Louis could well afford to have more men of the outstanding and worthwhile ability of Eberhard Anheuser.
To his business and social reputation must be added his reputation as a sportsman. As a breeder of fine hunting dogs and he did much to further the propagation of quail. He also was long a member of the Missouri Conservation Commission.
Ebe was expert at the game of golf.
He was the husband of Elinor Anheuser.
